BMW Motorcycle Club of Houston

Our club is open to all owners (present, past, or future) of BMW motorcycles and their families. Even if you don’t own a BMW motorcycle now or are just interested, come to our meetings and get to know us.

We usually meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at The Spaghetti Western Italian Cafe, Google Map. We have an active ride program, with frequent organized day-rides in the Houston area and occasional longer multi-day rides. We offer “Tech Days” about twice a year, where members come together to do maintenance their bikes with some expert assistance available.

For nearly fifty years we have held the South Central BMW Owners Reunion, a rally for BMW owners in our area and beyond. Our club was founded in 1966, one of the first to be chartered by the BMW Motorcycle Owners Association (MOA), and the BMW Riders Association (RA).

Monthly Meetings

Our club meets on the second Thursday  of each month at 7 pm (except as noted), at the Spaghetti Western Italian Cafe, 1608 Shepherd Drive, Houston, TX 77007. This is a few blocks south of I-10 on Shepherd Dr. Meetings are announced on this website, on our calendar, and through our email newsletter.

The meetings start at 7 pm in the back “party room.” Many people begin arriving by 6 pm to to enjoy dinner and socialize. Sometimes it’s almost “standing room only” so come early to get a good table. There are usually a number of people who ride their motorcycles, so every meeting is a “show and tell.”

Parking is available in the lot behind the restaurant on Eigel Street. If the restaurant’s lot is full, additional parking is available directly across the street in an office-building lot (look for sign). People who ride usually park their bikes on the apron in front of the restaurant; but be careful of the steep slope and the busy traffic on Shepherd!

Tech Days

Tech days happen twice a year – in the Spring and Fall – rain or shine. Lunch is provided by the club. This is an opportunity to get some maintenance done on your bike with some expert assistance available. Common tasks that many people do are bleeding brakes, changing tires, adjusting valves, syncing carbs, adding farkles (and admiring other peoples’ farkles), changing rear drive fluid, and tuning their Turbo Encabulators.

Just bring your tools and parts. Other members with years of experience of working on BMWs will be there to help you. Note that Tech Days are not open to the general public – just club members and close friends.

The South Central BMW Owners Reunion

For nearly fifty years, the Houston BMW Motorcycle Club has organized and presented the South Central BMW Owners Reunion. We now hold this weekend event at Oak Thicket Park , Fayetteville, TX, in late October or early November. Enjoy guided road rides, social events, Texas cooking, awards, and great fellowship. All in a pleasant wooded lakeside park, with hiking and fishing opportunities as well.  We hope you can stay the whole time with us (check in begins Friday noon, check out Sunday morning). But if you are pressed for time, just come for Saturday.

We will announce the dates and details of this year’s rally on this website and through our email list later this year. If you have any questions you may email

Rides
Rides
Our club has an active program of day-rides in the Houston area and longer multi-day rides beyond. Many of us also join together to attend national rallies and events such as the annual MOA or MOA Getaways. Our rides are free and open to prospective members and guests. This is a great way to meet club members and learn about us.

We’ve accumulated a lot of Club Rides over the  years. They are all available to you (including maps and GPS files) in our Ride Library, for reference in planning your own rides.

History
History
In the Spring of 1966, a group of seven BMW motorcycle owners got together and talked about forming a club. Only a dozen or so BMW motorcycles existed in the Houston area at that time, and the owners wanted to form an organization that would support their interests in riding. They also wanted to share their enthusiasm and love of BMW motorcycles. The BMW Club of Houston holds Charter No. 12 from the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America (MOA), and Charter No. 287 from the BMW Riders Association (RA).

The club’s mission is to connect the BMW motorcycle community in the Greater Houston area and around the state. We fulfill this mission through regular meetings, breakfasts and monthly club rides.

We have been hosting the annual South Central BMW Owners’ Reunion and Rally since 1971. We are proud that our club’s rally is older than the BMW MOA National Rally.

We also want to welcome those new to the riding community as well as those new to the marque. Our members can assist you with mechanical and technical advice, and sometimes even hands-on help! Many of our members are long distance riders, for which many BMW models are especially well suited, and can offer advice for those who want to tour the area, the region, the country or the world. We recognize that the new riders are the ones who will carry our club into the future.
