About this event

This will be our 4th annual Lost Maples Campout Weekend, and if you are into motorcycle camping it's something you won't want to miss!

WHERE:
Once again, the club has reserved 4 campgrounds at the Lost Maples State Natural Area campground, and yes, we sleep in tents! However, in the spirit of full disclosure, we are not hard-core campers, and other than maybe some breakfast snacks we eat meals at various cafes and restaurants in the area!!

SCHEDULE:
Things all start Thursday--those who want to ride out together as a group will meet at the Buck-ee's on I-10 in Katy. Specific details will firm up in the week prior to the event, but likely a 10 AM'ish departure!

We will do a late-lunch around 1:30 pm as we pass thru New Braunfels at Krause's Cafe--always a group FAVORITE!

We will get back on the road around 3 and should hit the campsites around 5 pm. There are no formal evening plans for Thursday--just set up camp and hang out, swim, hike, run over to Leakey, or whatever!!

Friday is the Main Event - we ride the famous 3 Twisted Sisters motorcycle loop considered by many to be the best ride in all of Texas!! We will get lunch on the ride and will the plan is to finish at the winery near camp late afternoon.

Our Saturday ride is typically planned around the campfire on Friday night. This year, I'm looking into a gravel / ranch road option in the hills to the West for the GS crew, and if this comes together someone else will be nominated to lead the road guys. There are many road options--could be as simple as riding the 3 Sisters loop in the reverse direction, a trip to Kerrville and/or Fredericksburg, or ???

Sunday
We pack up at a relaxed pace and head out mid-morning to return to Houston.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES
* There is a great motorcycle museum in Vanderpool--last year 3 or 4 of us made it and definitely worth the time!
* The winery is nice and has a great outdoor area to enjoy if the weather is nice.
* Bring a swimsuit--the park's swimming hole is always a big hit!
* Lost Maples has some of the BEST hiking trails in all of Texas--bring some comfortable shoes!! Expecting a bigger group than just Bob and me this year!!

COST
$30 covers your campsite and some campsite basics like water, ice, firewood and coffee. In addition, each person is responsible for their own day use fees of $6/day which is paid at the gate, but historically, we have enough folks with Texas State Parks Passes to cover everyone as guests.

Note, if you have a Texas State Parks Pass you are never charged for day-use fees at any state park in Texas. These are $70/yr, so you will want to consider this option if you utilize Texas parks regularly.

Payment:
Pls go to the club website to pay.

ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE - Because of the popularity and limited space for this event, it is open only to paid members of the BMW Motorcycle Club of Houston. If we get to March and still have some open space--we may broaden the invite list.
